A redesign in 2000 saw the Galaxy move away form its itself from the Volkswagen and Seat look and instead adopted the Ford keymark front end and the internal design benefited from a new dash, utilising high-quality materials and a design comparible to that of the third-generation Ford Mondeo which was introduced at a similar time as the new Galaxy.
Newer engines were available across the range, the newer 24v VR6, along with VW Group’s Pumpe-Duse (PD) TDI engines available in 90 bhp (only on LX models), 115 bhp, 130 bhp, and 150 bhp forms, these were matched to a six-speed manual transmission, a four-speed automatic transmission with manual sequential shift , and a five-speed automatic transmission however the automatic gearboxes were only available on 115.
